  • Oca Flowers

I thought I'd add some pictures as I get them.

These pictures are from the first two plants to flower, both with long styles and you can see two lover layers (short row and middle row) of stamens which look like very mini rich yellow pom poms. There's some pollen grains visible inside the flower too.

Look great. Mine went in late (July) so I'm not sure whether they will have time to flower this year. I have some in a bag that I can take into the greenhouse if the doom&gloom merchants are right about an early and severe winter.

Thanks, I'm really hoping for some more plants to flower to have a chance of getting some seed. Look forward to hearing how yours do.

I took some more pictures this afternoon of a few oca that are flowering, these are from the plants grown from seed. 5, 6 and 7 petals, some are fuller and frillier than others.

There is such a variation between the flowers, pity no short styles so far.

It's sunny this morning, hopefully something new might open. I can see from the photos pollen is being spread about, so something is taking an interest in the flowers, fingers crossed.

I'm not sure if it is very clear but this has short styles, not easy to see as they are so very close to the base of the flower. I'm hoping they get pollinated as a couple of plants so far have them.

I've only had some flowers on the ones from seed, none yet on the plants grown from tubers. I thought it might have been the other way around.
